
MEN’S COMPETITIVE TEAM
Our men’s competitive gymnastics team is one of the most prestigious gymnastics programs in the world. Houston Gymnastics Academy has produced hundreds of State and Regional Champions.
The men’s team competes from Level 3 to Level 10, and at the Elite Level, under the USA Gymnastics program policies and guidelines. Participation on our men’s competitive team is by invitation only.

HENAN “JOHN” ZHENG
MEN’S TEAM HEAD COACH
John began his coaching career with the Liaoning Province Team in China where the team went on to receive Silver in the 2002 “Red River Cup” National Gymnastics Championship. In 2003, three of his gymnasts were recommended to the Chinese National Gymnastics Team and one received the honor title of Master of Sports. In 2007, John became the Head Coach for the Saudi Arabia National Men’s Team which went on to win back-to-back Silver in the 2008 and 2009 Gymnastics Competition in the Gulf States. He later won two First Place titles coaching the Men’s and Women’s Gymnastics Team in the Junior Gymnastics Club in Singapore during the 2012-2013 season. In 2014, he came to the U.S. to coach at the Loudoun Gymnastics Center. During his first season 72 of his gymnasts received a top three title, and in 2015 the number of top three titles rose to 121.
JOSÉ MANUEL SÚCART CESSÉ
MEN’S TEAM ASSISTANT HEAD COACH
José is originally from Puerto Rico where he both competed and coached. Jose served as Men’s Team Coach at Club Gimnastico Criollo (1997-2008), before coaching the Puerto Rican Men’s Junior National Team (2008-2016). He also served as Assistant Coach to the Puerto Rican Men’s National Team and Senior National Team that went to the 2013 World Championships and 2010 C’AC Games. The former Major of Caguas in Puerto Rico bestowed unto him multiple “Coach of the Year” awards for his work in Puerto Rican gymnastics.
